One Year.

I met you one year ago.

You never think the most important days of your life are going to be the most important. They start out ordinary.

Since I met you, nothing has been ordinary :)

I get to wake up next to you every morning and say goodnight to you each night.

I am the luckiest.

And I love you.

Wanna get married?

Rainy days are perfect for sitting with a cup of coffee and something sweet.

Dino and I had a few errands to run this weekend and in the midst of it all, we were able to stop by this REALLY SUPER ADORABLE little bakery that we'd been meaning to go to for months. We got stuck there for a little while because of the rain, but if you have to be stuck somewhere I'd say a bakery is the place to be. I have to be honest with you, my friends. It was, in fact, the BEST (and I don't say this lightly) the BEST cheesecake I've ever had.

In my life.

I think it's safe to say that Wildflour is officially in the running to be our wedding cake vendor.

This is one of the first weekends in a while that I've given myself permission to just....relax :)

No planning, no wedding stuff, no 4th grade prep....just getting my hair done (FINALLY fixed!!), laying by the pool, soaking up sun, holding a very cute very new little baby, boat rides, fireworks, and spending time with my family.

I'm spoiled and life is good.

I love the summer. I love how relaxed everything is. Life is always just a little sweeter during the summer months. Dino and I decided to head up to St. Joe for the afternoon....smooth car ride, iced coffee, Garret's cheesy caramel popcorn on the seat beside me, beautiful weather and time with my doesn't get better :)

Getting to spend the day in a pretty place like this REALLY makes me wish I lived on the water. I mean, I'd settle for ANY type of water...ocean, lake, river....pond....puddle.....

SO my world traveling bestie made a pit stop in Valpo last week :) When she and I are together it usually turns into a 48 hour food lovin' marathon. Seriously, when I visited her in New York we went to approximately 15 restaurants/ four days. Normal? No. Healthy? Questionable. Awesome? Decidedly.

We spent the day in Chicago looking for yummy food and good books--we weren't disappointed.

I think one of our FAVORITE stops of the day, though, was this great pizza place--Homeslice Wheelhouse. LOVED it. So delicious that I wished I could stretch my stomach so that I could eat more pizza (a common and reoccurring wish in my life...) The best part was this fabulous little dog named Gary that wandered around the restaurant. He was so cute and would just flop down by your feet...just chillin. I wish I could take him home!!

The rest of the weekend flew by in a blur of yumblies and (....wait for it....) BRIDESMAID DRESS SHOPPING!!! Having found my own wedding dress last week (*tries to contain massive amounts of excitement*), I thought this would be a great and unbelievably convenient week to find the perfect bridesmaid dress for the girls. To be honest, I also didn't really want to be the one to pick out the dress for the girls. I'm not the one who'll be wearing it, so to me it made more sense to have Christine pick out the dress. And boy did she do an EXCELLENT job!!

Can't wait to see you again, my friend!!! :)

So there's this thing that no one really tells you about when you're young....

No one really tells you about growing up.

It happens slowly. So slowly, in fact, you're not even sure when it's happening.

I also think it has a lot to do with what you find interesting--what you want to spend your time doing.

For example, if you'd asked me three years ago what the top five things I'd most likely be doing were, the list would probably look something like this:

1) Getting dolled up to go out with my friends
2) Going on dates
3) Figuring out how to set up the table I revamped from a garage sale to seat more than three people
4) Wondering who in the world was going to hire me as a teacher
5) Convincing myself that it is completely healthy and appropriate to have cereal for every meal of the day.

Now? Life is different. VERY different. When you leave college, you assume that you know it all. You've learned most of what there is to learn and now you're an adult. You assume that who you are at that moment is who you'll inevitably be for the rest of your life.

That is wrong.

That is just the start.

For me, who I was when I graduated college three years ago was the jumping off point. I am not that person anymore. I don't dress the same, I am less selfish, I've learned how to properly clean my house and keep it that way, I have grown up furniture that is now considered "an investment for my future", I have a two year old dog, I've worked somewhere long enough to make a change, and I've met the love of my life with whom I will share my future.

All of this in the past three years. But my point is...when did it happen and how didn't I notice it?

I sat down on my couch the other day and I couldn't help but look around the home that I had built and think "When did it happen? How did I not notice the fact that I'm a grown up now? I am a woman. I am no longer a girl. I have moved past Britney Spears's iconic song and have become an adult."

So...what are the top five things I'm most likely to be found doing now?

1) Hanging out with my family and soaking up every minute.
2) Spending time with Dino at home--our dog beside us on the couch.
3) Running or doing Yoga because after 25 bodies need some extra attention
4) Cleaning my house because I care what it looks like and I care what state we live in
5) Making plans for the future in any and all capacities

The Proposal

Once upon a time....I met a man. I met a man who is kind, smart, thoughtful, driven, and devastatingly handsome. As time went by,  I fell madly and wonderfully in love with this man.

On June 6, 2014 this man asked me to marry him...and I said yes.
